The beach and water is peaceful and very clear. We drove down to the beach in the park and some campsites down there had a lovely view of the lake - wish we would have known about those! Definitely remembering that for next time. Bathrooms and showers were closed due to the drought - so bring water. The spots were huge and although it was only me and my boyfriend camping, there was plenty of room for 2 more tents with breathing room. It was bear season when we went in late July and some people in the campground had seen bears both nights we were there (thankful we did not.) Rules are very strict about keeping all food and toiletries in the bear lockers. Each camping spot had a fire pit, grill, picnic bench, and a bear locker. The neighbors on the other side were far enough away that privacy was not an issue and we were on hill so we did not have anyone else around us. Our spot was great, very short walk to the restrooms and had great privacy from one of our neighbors. Bliss State Park and we camped in spot # 5. The stars are beautiful at night.įirst time at D.L. Temperatures at night can get below 40, so it is good to have a jacket, beanie and gloves on before night fall. At the park, we did not have rowdy neighbors. No dogs on trails nor beaches, but they can be at the campsite. Fire wood is provided by the host at $ 8. There are bears, jays and squirrels that will try to eat your food, so everything that looks like food or smells good should go into the locker. The weather during the day in September is mild and the water is freezing year round. The elevation gain and lost in the lighthouse trail is less than 300 feet. It is about a hour hike from the 91 – 130 sites. The hiking trails oversee the lake and the beach and cove are nice. I went during labor day weekend, so we reserved the site three months in advance. Some campsites have more privacy than others, so it is a good idea to check the site online. There is shade because of the pine trees.
